My DS6C

I've been neglecting this blog posting about all this work I'm doing on my little Yamaha DS6C over on my other blog https://facebkfugitive.blogspot.com/ . Well, today I decided to write about what I'm doing over here and bring this blog up to date. You know,I really started this blog to write about my travels but there are long periods of time between my wanderings on the Moto Guzzi sometimes. This doesn't mean I an not out on two wheels or wrenching in the garage of course , just not traveling.I have this plan to move to the desert. My motorcycles are a major part of that plan ,some are coming with me and some are getting sold to buy a house there. To do this I have to build some out of the parts I have stashed away over the years. The first one was the 1973 Yamaha RT3 that I built back in 2012-13 .It came out real nice and I had fun doing the build.I sold it in the spring of '15 .
Used that money to start working on my camp up in the Adirondacks . You see,I let that place deteriorate by not going up for five or six years,a huge mistake on my part. So, I spent the last two summers up there working on it so it will be usable and also saleable. I won't sell it until I buy the place out west though ,You see I fell back in love with the North Country these past two summers so I decided to keep the place a little longer and besides,it is something to fall back on if things go bad. There is no one in this life that is going to do anything for me but myself and without this place I could end up homeless like so many do.So,I need to raise the down payment for the house in the desert by selling bikes.I have the means to do this and still be left with my core collection so it's a good thing actually and besides,I'll need some money later on and that's when the camp will come in handy so for now I keep it.
The DS6C I built was never really finished,There were issues that I needed to address with the motor so this winter I set out to finish this bike.I pulled the motor out and got it up on the bench where it is easier to work and went to town.
After putting new crank seals in it I changed the cylinders as well. You see,the motor had a compression issue and I needed to fix that. There were only two things it could be,crank seals or a worn cylinder so they have both been replaced .After getting the motor work finished I decided to do one last thing on it before turning my attention to the bike itself,I changed out the oil injection pump because two stroke oil was leaking. It turned out to be a bad feed line from the tank but I put in a known to be good pump as well so I can get this bike finished and sold. The pump replacement went smoothly and I cleaned and polished the entire bike before putting the motor back in.
Now I'm in the final stages.I just need to put the carbs on,hook up the cables, and air box, install the tank, seat, and mufflers and she's ready to test fire. This should happen this week with any luck and then I can turn my attention to these two beauties and prep them for sale.
