It was a long winter here in New York.I did get out some on the Moto
Guzzi and the BMW K 100 when the weather let me but spent most of
my time helping a friend build an art studio so she can give lessons.
Now it's spring .Last post I mentioned my friend Richard who I bought
this really nice Yamaha YM1 from a while back had cancer. He was really
sick when I saw him last August a d basically came to the bike show to
say good bye .It was very sad.Well,I was out riding last Sunday all
day.As I came home and was getting off the Guzzi a car stops at the end
of my driveway.I'm looking to see who this is when Richard gets out ! He
didn't die like he said he was going to do ! He was real lucky and got
into some program that they are trying out where they remove all his
white blood cells, genetically alter them to fight the cancer and then
replace them.He tells me he's only one of 12 people in the world this
has been done with and it is working ! I couldn't believe my eyes. He's
got the cancer you get from asbestos exposure so this is incredible
.Usually you die real fast from this type and he's out and about.
So,that was a big UP. Been riding the BMW K 100 a lot testing it and
tweeking it getting her ready for that long journey out west next summer
in 2019 when I turn 70 .Saving money for that trip and the house down
payment so we can move to Arizona and not deal with this winter garbage
anymore . Life has been good to me these past few months.I've been
busy,I've been riding, and I've been looking forward making plans.
Pictured below is a photo I took a couple weeks ago when I went riding
with a friend out east here in Long Island on our BMW's . Mine is the
modern one(only 30 years old ) and his is the mid 70's one . This bike
will be the bike I take out west next year. A 1000 cc liquid cooled
,fuel injected, rocket made to travel with.
