Finished Delivered Installed

So I finally finished up the 1965 Yamaha YDS3C motor I rebuilt for my friend John .Packed it all up and brought it to the bike show and swap meet in PA to install in the bike.I brought it unassembled and we put it together in the frame at the show.We worked on it for two days taking our time and making sure all was right. Finally on Friday night around 11 PM we were ready to fire it.  We put some gas in the tank, gave it a few kicks to prime it,turned on the ignition , kicked it and it started right up ! This was a fun project that played out over the course of a full year and we were both happy to hear it come to life. Took it for some short test rides Saturday morning out on the road and it ran as it should so it got loaded on his trailer and off it went . Had a great time at the event talking with all these interested people who were watching us put this motor back together.Found some good stuff for some of my bikes in the swap meet and saw some old friends.Blew out of there on Saturday headed for home and now a week later I'm packing the little Chevy S10 up with our gear so my wife and I can head up north to the camp and spend a week there for her birthday.Life is good ! It's been hard too but all that is in the rear view now.I had to spend the whole month of July in 90 degree heat painting the house I live in and replacing the hot water heater and outside water line. It's not easy hanging off an extension ladder painting in the heat and sun when you're 74 years old but I got past it. I have to admit , it does keep me in good shape so there was some real benefit for me .

Next is a new fence across the driveway then the place is all set and I get back to my life of restoring the 65 Barracuda with my friend Steve and with any luck I'll even get started on my 65 Valiant station wagon project. This is being retired ! So,now I get ready to hit the road again but what I really want is to find a riding partner who is on the same page as me to go on a long  cross country trip on our old motorcycles . I still have the energy and the desire to do one last long distance ride on my Moto Guzzi 850-T I know that person is out there somewhere wanting to take their old bike on a long ride too.
