Early Spring Riding

 Got out yesterday on the Moto Guzzi.Sure felt good to ride and not be cold. Stayed out for a couple hours and the bike ran great.The weather today isn't as good as yesterday but still good enough to ride so I'm going out again. Here she is at White Rose MC a few years back for a weekend of swap meet and Japanese Motorcycles . I miss those days but all things end .It seems the club got taken over by the Harley crowd and no longer welcomes the Japanese meet so it's been moved it to a different venue after 30 years.

This is life in vintage motorcycle circles. 

Sure wish I could find a couple good riding partners.You know,guys in my age bracket who are free to go traveling .I'm still planning on heading somewhere this season and it would be nice to have someone to ride and camp with.I miss Juan.He was a real good riding partner. We always had great rides and lots of good days working in the garage on our old bikes.But,he's down in Mexico now raising a family . Like the White Rose Show, all things must pass . So today I think I'll go out on my R5. Haven't ridden a two stroke in a month or two so it will be good to get out on one.The battery is on the charger so it's all up to snuff  and the injector oil has been topped off.All I need to do is put some air in the tires and she's ready to roll.

Not going to have any decent riding weather until next week again so I want to get some time in now. It's starting to warm up some.Once it gets to 50 F I'm outta here ! 

In other news: 

I'm finishing up a repair on my friends ceiling this week and we are also going to start fooling around with the quarter panel repairs for the wagon project. IT'S FINALLY STARTING ! So,it's out to the garage now to air up the tires a bit and check on the battery. I may even get to an oil change on the Moto Guzzi today with any luck.Picked up a gallon of Rotella for that the other day. Springtime chores , gotta get going on the yard clean up too.Well,there are months in front of me now with good riding weather and who knows ,I may even meet a riding partner out there on the road.It sure would be good to have a friend to ride down south to the Barber Vintage Festival with this Fall.

Early Spring

 Winter was mild this year .We had some cold but it only lasted a day or two before returning to above 40 degree temps.I got out a few times on the Moto Guzzi and the Yamaha R5  but had to waste most of the great winter riding weather laying on the ground under my truck and my wife's new crap box car .Got them both sorted out now and finished up the paint job I had going for the last couple weeks so now I'm a free agent again. There's lots to do but the sun is shining brightly and it's starting to warm up to the high 40's F so I'm going riding today. First I'm gonna call my friend Tony and try to set up a day and time to go put his rear wheel back on his Moto Guzzi.We took it off back in December so he could get a new tire installed and now it's time to finish up that job before the real nice weather gets here. I also have to get started on the wagon project now that spring is in front of us so I can be doing the filler work on it after all the metal replacement work gets finished.I need warm weather to do the filler work and mild autumn weather to paint the car so it's time to get moving on this.Timing is everything . That air jack I picked up last week will be a great help with the wagon project .That was a score ! Well, today is nice but still cold .With any luck it will warm up into the mid to high 40's F by lunch time and I'll be out riding. Talked with my friend John last night.I'm slowly getting back to the motor I'm building for him.I need it finished by August so it's all good that I take my time but last night he told me he's going in for hart surgery next week.Sure hope he comes out of it alright.This is life when you get into your 70's .It's the reason that one needs to make every day count .You just never know when some crap like this is gonna come down the road and smash right into you.So with that in mind I'm going riding on my Moto Guzzi  and enjoying this sunny day. Perhaps I'll get lucky and be able to get out on the road this summer for a bit of this , sure would love it if I do.
