The End Of Another Year

Yup,it's December 31 and 2018 is coming to an end.It was ok for most of the year but the last two months have been crap. Not doing any meaningful work ,haven't painted anything at all the whole year, built any bikes,or done any real work on my wagon. Last week the motor in my wife's 2002 Honda Accord took a shit. It's in the shop awaiting a new motor to be installed. Lucky for us the Japanese have to change their motors at 40,000 or so miles .They ship container loads of these perfectly good 40,000 motors to the US and people sell them on the internet CHEAP .I got one delivered to the shop for 450 bucks ! Sure,it's gonna cost another 1200 or so to put it in but if I bought an 1800 dollar car I'd be dumping all sorts of money into it that I had already dumped into the one I have so it's better to stick with mine. The rest of the car is good, just has a bad motor. So,I end the year spending money that should be saved towards the down payment on a house.I'm not happy about this.
Just before the Honda took a shit I came across a deal to get all the body work from a low mileage 1988 BMW K 100 RS the same color as mine  for 300 dollars.I went for it and glad I did.Now I have spare parts for her so this is a good thing. Not much else going on in my life right now.Things are really slow for me , they usually are this time of year. I think today I'll go out and get some kerosene for the heaters in my garage so I can start working out there on some bikes. Can't just sit here waiting for something to happen,I need to make something happen.
It's a sunny day here in New York today. If it warms up into the 40's F I think I'll go out for a ride.Had a good ride on Saturday. It was 51 F out and I went riding on the Moto Guzzi . That bike always puts a smile on my face. I love it ! Today if I ride it will be on the BMW K 100 . I try to spread it around and use them all if I can. Tomorrow on New Years day it's supposed to be sunny and in the 50's so you know what I'll be doing. Well, Happy New Year to all you invisible people out there.
Last night I was looking thru some old photos.Came across a photo of me in my old 1960 Ford panel truck. Sure wish I could get back the freedom I had when I was wandering around the country in this. Those were good days. Living in my truck and home was wherever I parked her. That truck took me to some incredible places and I'd swing open those back doors to look out on these incredible views of mountains, lakes , and woods as I lay in my bed. I owned the world back then but like the photo I'm getting old and cracked now.Have to travel more,I'm not finished yet.
